PSVAR Review
On:

Passenger Lift Solutions is supporting the ongoing efforts of the Department for Transport (DfT) in conducting a crucial review on accessibility in buses and coaches. As an industry professional or someone affected by the Public Service Vehicle Accessibility Regulations (PSVAR), your input is invaluable to shape future policies and improve accessibility for all.
We are pleased to share the endorsement of Doug Paulley, a respected accessibility campaigner and wheelchair user, who recognises the significance of accessible transport solutions. Doug’s statement aptly captures the impact of PSVAR: “PSVAR changed my life. On buses, it means I can reliably travel spontaneously and safely. When I moved to a care home in Wetherby, going anywhere relied on volunteers, considerable cost and planning. Since the buses have all been accessible, I can go where I want, when I want.”
Doug’s experience underscores the importance of accessible vehicles and equipment, not only for wheelchair users but for individuals with diverse mobility needs. At PLS, we are committed to ensuring equal access to transportation services. Our focus is on designing and manufacturing reliable and user-friendly solutions, such as wheelchair lifts, to meet these accessibility requirements.
We encourage you to contribute your valuable insights and perspectives to the ongoing PSVAR review by participating in the DfT’s survey. Your input will be instrumental in driving positive changes and ensuring continued progress towards a more accessible future. By joining forces, we can work towards a transportation industry where reliable vehicle access solutions become the norm, establishing accessibility as a standard feature.
Doug further highlights, “In my experience, PLS lifts, and the Magic Floor are the most reliable and easy to use, and they make me feel safe. I wish they were in use on every coach, I feel relief when I see them as I know they limit drama. We need more of this type of equipment.”
Doug’s endorsement echoes the sentiment that reliable and user-friendly equipment greatly enhances passenger safety and peace of mind.
By joining forces, we can create a future where every passenger can enjoy equal access to transportation services regardless of their abilities. Participation in the DfT’s PSVAR review survey is vital to achieving this vision.
The survey runs until 4th September and you can find it here- https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/review-of-the-public-service-vehicles-accessibility-regulations-2000
