You may have read about Noone’s new Turas 900 midi coach, built on the class-leading DAF LF 12-tonne chassis, in the latest issue of Bus & Coach Buyer. Manufacturing a wheelchair lift for this exceptional vehicle sold by UK agent Jones Coach & Bus Sales required fresh engineering thinking from our team at PLS.

The coach’s compact rear design left minimal space for a lift, yet full wheelchair access was essential to meet PSVAR standards. Our engineers got creative designing a super-slim cassette lift that tucks neatly into the constrained area over the rear axle. Space savings couldn’t compromise function, so we optimised the lift capacity with long-reach arms to successfully meet the core requirement of an extra-large usable platform measuring 825 x 1500mm, ensuring ample space and comfort for wheelchair users. A bespoke carriage extension was also integrated to ensure clearance of the coach body.

Our consultative approach, strategic design expertise and manufacturing capabilities allowed PLS to overcome challenges and deliver an optimal solution for Noone’s Turas 900.
